
Nate Speidel Ph.D.

Nate Speidel – aka “Speidy” – is a dedicated coach, educator, and lifelong student of the game. He is currently in his 22nd year as the founder and lead instructor of Goalrobber Goalie Schools, where he has developed and mentored many goaltenders, coaches, and hockey programs. Nate serves numerous roles as USA Goaltending’s North Dakota Girls GDC, Northern Plains District Boys GDC, University of Mary Men’s College assistant and goalie coach, Bismarck Century Boys and Bismarck Legacy High girls goalie coach, Bismarck Hockey Boosters and Mandan Hockey Youth Club goalie coordinator, and as consultant for the various other hockey organizations. Nate holds a Level 4 USA Hockey coaching certification, a Bronze-level USA Goaltending certification, and has been a guest speaker at USA Goaltending Silver certification and Global Goaltending Retreat symposiums. His expertise and leadership have made a lasting impact on goaltending development in the region.
Academically, Nate earned his master’s degree in Mathematics Education through Minot State and a Ph.D. in Educational Research at the University of North Dakota, as well as graduate certificates in Learning Analytics and College Teaching. His research focuses on motivation and goaltender performance, further bridging his expertise in education, analytics, and performance.
Prior to his coaching career, Nate was a standout goaltender. He played collegiate hockey in the MIAC with Saint John’s University after competing at the Junior “A” level with the NAHL’s Bismarck Bobcats. In high school, he set a school record with a 93.6% save percentage, earned All-Region and All-State honors, WDA Senior Athlete of the Year, and established himself as one of North Dakota’s top goaltenders.
Beyond hockey, Nate is an accomplished educator with over a decade of experience teaching high school mathematics. He also coached chess at Shiloh Christian School in Bismarck, ND, and has led multiple academic competition, math, and chess teams to state championships. A passionate musician, he sings, plays and teaches guitar. Nate is married to the love of his life, Marnie Speidel. They share common passions in their faith, teaching, family, and being on the water.

Nate Speidel PhD

Nate Speidel grew up playing hockey in rural Hazen, ND. During his 3-year high school career he posted a school record high 93.6% save average, achieved All-Region and All-State honors, and established himself as one of the top goaltenders in North Dakota. During his post high school career, Nate played for the NAHL Junior “A” Bismarck Bobcats and continued on to the collegiate level to study and play in the MIAC as a part of the Saint John’s University hockey program. As a student of the game, Nate has been involved with coaching at many different levels, and this passion continues to fuel his love for goaltending. He is currently in his 18th season as the founder and head coordinator of Goalrobber Goalie Schools, 15th season as a Bismarck Hockey Boosters and Mandan Hockey Club goalie coordinator, 15th season consulting the Bismarck Century High School Patriots, and 4th season consulting the University of Mary ACHA D2 men’s hockey program, who recently become national champions! He is a level 4 USA coach, Bronze level USA goaltending coach, and serves as the North Dakota USA Goaltending Goaltending Development Coordinator. In addition to coaching, Nate is a fierce learner and loves teaching. He has taught high school mathematics for 10 years and is a chess coach at Shiloh Christian School in Bismarck, ND. He has coached numerous academic competition, math, and chess teams to state championships. He also plays and teaches guitar. In 2012, Nate earned his masters degree in Math Education and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Educational Research through the University of North Dakota with a focus on motivation and goaltender performance.

Aaron Nelson

Aaron Nelson – After a stellar 2018-19 season in goal for the Marauders in which he was named ACHA Men’s DII First Team All-American, ACHA Men’s DII West Region First Team and Player of the Year, Aaron will take his spot behind the Marauders bench as an assistant coach during the 2019-20 season. He helped lead the Marauders to a school record 39 wins, earning 21 of those with a record of 21-5-1-1. His twenty-one victories were the most in the ACHA Men’s DII as were his 29 appearances and 1699:40 minutes played. He had a goals against average of 1.66, good for sixth in the nation, and a saves percentage of .941 in his only year. He also had five shutouts on the year to tie his teammate Lance Knudson for second most in the nation.
The Bismarck, ND native returned home in 2018 to help lead the Marauders in their inaugural hockey season after a 4-year career at NCAA DI Minnesota State University, Mankato. During his time at MSU, Nelson earned a 6-2-1 record, had a 2.53 goals against average and had a .898 saves percentage. He was a three year WCHA Scholar Athlete and was named to the WCHA All-Academic team three times. He was awarded the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week during the 2016-17 season.
Prior to his time at MSU, Nelson spent three seasons with the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) earning a record of 83-33-0. He helped the Bobcats to two Robertson Cup playoff appearances and played in the 2013 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. Aaron has a bachelor degree from MSU in Biology and an MBA through UMary. Aaron currently serves as an assistant coach for the University of Mary men’s hockey team.

Lance Knudson

Lance Knudson: Appeared in 20 games with the UMary Marauders last season and compiled an undefeated record of 18-0 with 1.59 goals against average and .937 save percentage. He was also Named ACHA Academic All American for his achievements in the classroom. Before the Marauders, Lance Spent two seasons (2017-18, 2016-17) at Hamline University where he appeared in 4 games with 5.49 goals against average and .831 save percentage…Spent two seasons (2015-16, 2014-15) with the Yellowstone Quake (NA3HL)…In 2015-16 season compiled 18-6-0 mark, .923 save percentage and 2.59 goals against average in 27 games played…Served as assistant captain in 2014-15 season 6-20-0, .897 save percentage and 4.57 goals against average in 31 games played…Played with the Billings Bulls (AWHL) in 2013-14 season where he appeared in 3 games with 3.77 goals against average and .917 save percentage.
Lance currently teaches middle school math at Dickinson Middle School and serves as head coach of the Dickinson HS Girls hockey team. Lance co-founded Dakota Roots Hockey School, with which Goalrobber proudly collaborates!

Lucy Morgan
goaltending coach
Lucy Morgan was a two-year starter in goal for Maple Grove, posting a .943 save percentage and a 1.35 goals against average with 18 shutouts. She was the runner-up for the Senior Goalie of the Year award, was named in Super 100 Seniors, and Class AA All-Breakdown in Hockey Magazine. She was an All-State, All-Conference, and Academic All-Conference selection in both seasons.
Prior to playing for Maple Grove, Morgan played for Mandan High School in North Dakota, earning First-Team All-State and All-Tournament Team honors after stopping 50 shots in a 2-1 overtime upset over Fargo in the NDHSAA State Hockey Tournament. She was also a two-time All-Conference and Academic All-Conference selection in North Dakota.

Ryan Hanson
GOALTENDING COACH
Ryan Hason played high school hockey for the Century Patriots. He attended camp for many years before becoming a coach last year. Ryan was also helped coach goalies for Bismarck Hockey during the 2014-15 season. He is a student of the game and enjoys learning and coaching the newest techniques in goaltending. Ryan graduated with honors from North Dakota State Univeristy with a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He now specializes in on ice instruction and off ice strength training. Ryan works as a mechanical engineer at Bobcat in Bismarck, ND.

Ty Victor
GOALTENDING COACH
Ty Victor grew up playing hockey in Hazen ND. He played goaltender from squirts through his hockey career. After moving to Fargo, ND in 2002 he played for the Fargo Flames Junior Gold team during his Junior and Senior year of high school. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He is a disabled veteran who received a Combat Action Award and a Presidential Unit Citation for how quickly and decisively his unit invaded and pushed through Iraq. He was Honorably discharged in 2005. He moved back to Hazen in 2009 and has been coaching different levels of hockey for the Hazen Beulah Northstars since. He served on the Hazen Winter Sports board of directors for 2 years during this time. Ty works for North American Coal at the Freedom Mine north of Beulah, ND and currently resides north of Hazen with his wife and three children.

Dylan Zubke

Dylan Zubke grew up in Watford City, ND where he enjoyed playing hockey. Since that time, Dylan has coached from youth to high school hockey, including USA hockey camps and Select tournaments. Most recently, Dylan coached for the Bismarck Century Patriots. He has experience as a high school teacher and now works for Edward Jones as a financial advisor.
Dylan coordinates all of the shooters for camp and is a huge asset to Goalrobber. This is his second year on staff.
Andy Speidel

Andy Speidel grew up in Hazen, ND. As defenseman, he enjoyed playing alongside his twin brother, Nate, where he developed a love for hockey. Andy was also an outstanding track athlete as he qualified in multiple events and became a state champion in the 800 meter relay. After high school, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business and Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Mary. Throughout his life, Andy has taken an interest in health and fitness. He continues to run and bike and enjoys participating in races such as triathlons and half-marathons. Andy is passionate about wellness, travel, relationships, family, and his faith. He currently works as a regional safety coordinator for MSA. Andy has been an instrumental part of Goalrobber since the beginning, serving as a shooting coordinator.

Stephen Farnsworth

Stephen Farnsworth began playing hockey at the age of four in Oceanside, CA. After moving to Bismarck at the age of seven, Stephen discovered his love of goaltending. He continued to play through high school, where he was a Century High School Patriot. Following high school he continued to play on several armature leagues in Fargo. While in Fargo he helped coach goalies of the Fargo Youth Hockey program. In addition to that role, he had a strong passion for volunteering for the Fargo/Moorhead Grizzlies, part of Minnesota Special Hockey, where he was awarded a coaching position. Since returning to back to Bismarck, Stephen has assisted with the Bismarck Hockey Boosters goalie practices.

Tim Jahrus

Tim Jahraus played high school hockey for the Hazen-Beulah Northstars. Afterward, he attended school at the University of North Dakota where he played intramural hockey and earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Geoscience. Tim is a student of the game, studying the most recent goaltending techniques and equipment. He has both attended and coached with Goalrobber camps for over 8 years. Tim also served as a goaltending coach for the Grand Forks youth hockey program for two seasons. He loves working with goalie equipment and on-ice instruction.
Mike Hillman
GOALTENDING COACH
Mike Hillman was a standout goaltender from Bismarck, ND. A graduate of Bismarck High School, Mike earned the achievements of All-West Region Tournament Team, All-West Region Team and All-State Team multiple times as well as receiving the Joel Ulness Award. In addition, Mike has played on and been selected to numerous elite and invite-only teams including ND Selects, the Upper Midwest HS Elite League, Dakota Predators AAA, Team North Dakota, the USJDP and the USA National Select Festival. During Mike’s junior year, he was tendered by the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL and later joined the team after graduating in 2007. Mike remains a tremendous student of the game and has also served as a co-coordinator for the Bismarck Hockey Boosters goalie program. He specializes in goaltending history and on-ice techniques. He is a general “goalie nerd” – you have a goalie question, he’s probably got the answer.

KASANDRA CARIVEAU PLAYED YOUTH AND HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY IN BISMARCK, ND. SHE PLAYED ON TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS AT THE 14U LEVEL AND RECEIVED ALL-REGION AND ALL-STATE HONORS IN HIGH SCHOOL WITH THE BISMARCK BLIZZARD. KASANDRA TRIED OUT AND MADE A WOMEN’S JUNIOR TEAM IN MINNESOTA BUT WENT ON TO PLAY SOFTBALL AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL INSTEAD. NOW, KASANDRA IS THE GOALTENDING COACH FOR THE BISMARCK BLIZZARD HIGH SCHOOL GIRL’S TEAM AND ALSO COACHES CENTURY’S JV SOFTBALL TEAM. KASANDRA CURRENTLY STUDIES PHYSICAL EDUCATION WITH MINORS IN HEALTH AND COACHING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARY. KASANDRA IS AN EXPERT IN OFF ICE AND ON ICE INSTRUCTION.
Cam Knutson

Cam Knutson grew up in Bismarck, ND and attended Saint Mary’s High School. During his hockey career, Cam earned All-Region, All-State, and Academic All-Conference honors. He was also chosen as Bismarck Century’s Most Valuable Player and Century’s Mr. Hockey. Cam has been heavily involved in leadership activities through high school and college including North Dakota State Student Council President and NDSU Student Body President, among many others. Currently, Cam is involved in Real Estate development in Fargo and Bismarck. Cam is passionate about travel, leadership, and helping others. He has attended Goalrobber camps for many years and now serves as a valued staff member.[
Quinn Ackerman

Quinn Ackerman Quinn spent three seasons with Bismarck High School (USHS-ND)…During senior season (2019-20) had a 7-13 record with a 4.11 goals against average and .871 save percentage…Appeared in 20 games collecting 13 wins during junior year (2018-19) while having a 2.13 goals against average and .904 save percentage…Had a 10-5 record sophomore season (2017-18) while having a 1.90 goals against average and .904 save percentage. During the 2020-2021 season, Quinn played with the University of Mary ACHA DII hockey team. He saw action in three games, made 16 saves on 16 shots faced in 60 minutes of play, lettered as a Freshman, and was a part of the U Mary ACHA Men’s DII National Championship!
Jason Gradzaleski

Jason Gradzaleski played high school hockey in Halock, MN and graduated from Drayton, ND where he achieved all-region honors in football and set school track records in high jump and javelin. After high school, Jason played hockey for the Detroit Falcons for two seasons. He then joined the Army in 1991 and retired in 2012. Jason has extensive experience coaching goaltenders in Grafton, Grand Forks and Bismarck and has served as assistant coach for the Bismarck’s bantam A program. Jason has a rich knowledge base of goaltending history and specializes in mental toughness and character building.
Clayton Mannie
GOALTENDING COACH
Clayton Mannie grew up in Hazen and was a goaltender there from peewees through his sophomore season. There he played his first varsity game in the eighth grade. Clayton played for Fargo South his junior and senior seasons. After gaining the starting position he was named Rookie of the Year in 1998 and placed third in the State Tournament. In 1999 Fargo South won the state championship and Clayton was named to All Region, All State, All State Tournament Team, as well as State Tournament MVP. That season he was also chosen to play for Team ND. Clayton played two seasons of Junior A Hockey in the now defunct AWHL from 99-01. He played the following season with the Concordia Cobbers in the MIAC before finishing his education at Valley City State University with a degree in Technology Education.Since leaving playing Clayton has coached mites and junior gold in Valley City and squirts, peewees, and bantams in Hazen Beulah. He was an assistant coach with Mandan High School for two seasons. He has a Level 3 USA Hockey Coaching Certification and currently teaches Technology & Engineering at Youth Correctional Center in Mandan. Clay specializes in on-ice instruction and the studentship of goaltending.
